Pausing and Resuming Campaigns

Written by the Wyra team · Last updated April 2026

Pausing a campaign does not immediately stop all outreach. Prospects already mid-sequence continue receiving their scheduled follow-ups. All new prospect intake and sequencing stops immediately. This is by design.

Why pausing works this way

Wyra doesn't send individual messages. It manages conversation threads.

When a prospect receives an initial email or LinkedIn message from your AI SDR, they've been introduced to a real sender identity. They may be expecting a follow-up. If they reply, they're expecting a response. Cutting that thread mid-conversation — with no follow-up and no acknowledgment — damages two things.

What an abrupt stop breaks

Your sender reputation. Incomplete threads signal erratic sending behaviour to email infrastructure. This affects deliverability across your entire sending setup — not just this campaign.

The prospect relationship. A prospect who received a first touch and never heard back is a burnt contact. Harder to re-engage later, and a poor reflection on your brand. Wyra preserves the integrity of conversations already in motion. It's the same logic as telling a salesperson not to hang up mid-call.

What happens the moment you pause

New intake stops immediately. In-progress sequences complete.

Stops immediately

Continues

New prospects being added to the campaign

Follow-ups to prospects already mid-sequence

New sequences starting for any prospect

Replies to prospects who have responded

Outreach across all channels for new prospects

Completing the active nurture cycle for in-progress prospects

The cut-off point is clear: any prospect Wyra had not yet engaged when you hit Pause will not be contacted. Any prospect already in a conversation thread continues through to the end of their sequence.

How long does in-progress outreach last?

Until each prospect's outreach is complete. No fixed window.

The duration depends on the remaining steps in the nurture flow already underway for each prospect. Once a prospect's outreach is complete, no further outreach is sent. Wyra's agents complete what they started — nothing more.

What "Paused" means in your campaign table

When a campaign shows Paused: no new prospects are being processed, no new messages are being generated or scheduled, and agents are only handling conversations already in flight. The campaign can be resumed at any time.

Resuming a paused campaign

Picks up exactly where it stopped.

Resuming re-activates new prospect intake and sequencing. Prospects who were mid-sequence when you paused and have since completed their thread will not be re-contacted. They are done. Only new or previously uncontacted prospects in the campaign will receive outreach when you resume.

What Wyra does not currently support

There is no hard stop that halts everything immediately.

Wyra does not currently offer an option to immediately halt all outreach including in-progress sequences. If you need this for a specific scenario — compliance hold, client request, or time-sensitive situation — contact your Customer Success manager directly so they can assist manually.
